Critical Infrastructure Protection and Cyber Networks are DHS Top Priority for 2010

Its Official… Information warfare and the protection of the critical Infrastructure from Cyber Threats made it to the very top of the Department of HomeLand Security (DHS) priority list for 2010.

Out of the staggering 55.1 Billion Dollars budget announced over the weekend, Cyber Security got with the biggest slice (400 Million).

I was particularly interested in the following statement from the press release under “Counter Terrorism”.

” $400 million to protect critical infrastructure and cyber networks from attack; $94.5 million to detect agents of biological warfare; and resources to expand information-sharing partnerships with state and local law enforcement to mitigate threats.”

So I believe they will invest and expand in sector specific CERTs, Which is not a bad idea.
